摘要

Potato growers are acutely aware of how climate can impact on a crop. The 2006 season highlighted the issue, with a dry, hot summer resulting in crop quality issues including glassy potato, uneven fry colour and second growth accompanied by a reduction in yield. Scientists predict weather extremes will become more common, with an increase in heat-wave duration, a reduction in cold snaps and heavier, more intense bursts of autumn and winter rainfall.
