"In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes" - possibly Benjamin Franklin's wisest quote, after, of course, "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." While the thought of taxes may drive some of us to drink, for farmers, like businessmen up and down the country, the taxation regime is of critical importance and must be understood to minimise the yearly tax-take. Whether it's inheritance tax, capital allowances, green taxation or the impact of the SPS, the NFU is keen to ensure that members engage with the system and that the system is, of course, as farmer-friendly as possible.
