Response of Lemon Fruit Cracking to Organic and Inorganic Nutrient Sources

摘要

Lemon bears fruits in many flushes throughout the year causing nutrient depletion from soil which accounts for problems like fruit cracking and even less bearing next year. To maintain heavy and quality bearing, nutrient feeding is of utmost importance. Thus concept of nutrition management needs to be emphasized. A field experiment was laid out in Randomised Block Design with five treatments and four replications consisting of recommended dose of fertilisers (RDF) and different combinations of organic manure (Farm yard manure), inorganic fertiliser and biofertiliser (Azotobacter) during 2005 and 2006. The plant material was selected from Punjab Government Progeny Orchard and Nursery, Attari, Amritsar. The treatment T5 viz FYM (2 times the standard dose viz. 150 kg/tree) + inorganic fertiliser (1.5 times the standard dose viz. 525g/tree) + Azotobacter (18g/tree) proved to be the most effective in minimizing fruit cracking. The study reveals that the orchard nutrition management plays a very crucial role in fruit quality.
