Environmental Initiatives Taken by GNFC

India's rapid economic growth in last several years has made us aware of two stark realities: it has lifted Millions out of poverty and that this economic growth has been accompanied by accelerated depletion of natural resources and rapid deterioration in environment quality. Though India is home to 18% of the world's population, it has only 2.4% of the planet's lanimass, 4% of the fresh water resources and about 1% of the world's forest. It is therefore well recognized that environment and development should go hand-in-hand for the overall improvement in the quality of life. Any developmental endeavor calls for not only the analysis of the need of such project, the monetary cost and benefits involved, but most importantly, it also requires a consideration and detailed assessment of the effect of development project and available options for its mitigation. GNFC has a different approach for business than the general perception that "there is only one responsibility of business: to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits," The Company firmly believes in Corporate Sustainability that has a greater weightage on its performance in environmental and social areas. The article gives insight to few initiatives taken by GNFC in recent years on Environment front.
