Malappuram Coconut Farmers Producer Company Ltd -for the comprehensive growth of coconut sector

Malappuram district with its highes coconut productivity in Kerala is in the second position in area under coconut farming. Malappuram is less prone to pest and disease attack and this could be the reason for its highest productivity.Coconut Development Board's initiative to form the three tier farmer collectives reached the district at the time of drastic price fall of coconut. The idea was warmly welcomed by the farmers of Malappuram and more than 300 CPSs were formed in the district immediately. Farmers of nearby areas were also enthused to form farmer collectives and the process is spreading through out the district. Most of the Coconut Producers Societies have federated into Coconut Producers Federation and more than 20 Federations are formed in the district by now.
