The Producer Company, introduced in theCompanies Act through an amendment in 2002,is a hybrid of a cooperative society and a private limited company. The concept is introduced on the recommendations of an expert committee headed by Y.K. Alagh, economist. This article is an attempt to observe producer companies through the eyes of legal compliance.
