Speed is key at Heinz plant

A solution from V-viz, incorporating a Siemens Smart Camera, is aiding a Heinz plant to identify its weakest link. In order to alert an operator to a potential break in the chain link, the system needed to be accurate enough to identify a small crack which would appear before the chain broke away. Whilst evaluating the application it was determined that a dimension existed on the link that remained constant on good links but increased on those that had cracked. This increase was simply due to the increased length of the cracked piece of metal.
