The re-introduction of fresh pasteurized full-fat and semi-skim milk in glass bottles in Italy has been successful, accounting for 15% of sales of fresh milk in the Milano area and appealing to consumers with a preference for traditional, natural products. Sales also benefit from the added bonus of recyclable packaging, and the low price of glass has made it possible to provide this product at the same price as milk in cartons.
