Unlike a year ago, optimism abounds among the Great Lakes ports for 2023 with a robust Prairie grain harvest, strong Ontario crops, as well as global factors that continue to spur eastbound trade with overseas markets. However, some challenges remain in terms of expanding and diversifying port trade. Port Windsor is among the ports that had a good year in 2022 thanks to better Western grain yields and consistently strong crops from southwestern Ontario.
