As most of you are well aware by now, better production efficiency in swine raising involves attention to 3 basic disease problems which are common in most farms. These are: 1. scouring2. pneumonia 3. parasitism. Among themselves, these three diseases can cause setback by 10-30 per cent production efficiency in terms of Average Daily Gam (ADG) and Feed Inefficiency Ratio (FCR) (not counting mortality loss). In real terms, it could add8-10 pesos/kg of produce in production cost in the worst of cases. Most farm units nowadays sustain losses of 3-5 pesos with traditional but half-effective programs currently employed to address these problems.
