Foresthill, California-The seventh annual California State Championships started off with a roar and it never ended until the champions were named at the and of the two-day event. The setting was perfect. The even was being held in the historic mining town of Foresthill, northeast of Sacramento. The grass was deep green among large pine and fir trees, and the weather was perfect.Over 125 of the finest panners went head-to-head to see who would have the California bragging rights for the next full year. Add to this flavor a Foresthill special annual event called the "Miners Gathering" with lots of other historic activities, and you had the perfect mix to create the mining days of old.
