Cooperation between physical medicine et rehabilitation journals: An overview [Coopération entre journaux de médecine physique et de réadaptation: état des lieux]

Our loyal readers have perhaps noticed that we are not only the official review of SOFMER, and that other partnerships appear on our cover page. This fact illustrates the way in which relationships between reviews and medical/scientific societies have evolved over the years.For more than half a century, large-scale national medical societies have been intent on developing their scientific journals; that was the case with SOFMER in 1952. The societies went on to attain an international scale, particularly with the creation of the European Federation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, which subsequently became the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.It became readily apparent that a medical society is liable to cover three different fields: the scientific field, the academic discipline and the domain of professional practice. Other societies consequently came into being to devote specific coverage to one of these areas.
