Drought impacts crop land sales

Drought is the major factor behind a relatively quiet cropping farm real estate sector over the last 12 months. There has been no change in the ranking of the Top 10 farming business despite some sale activity by some of the players. Muttama Station was placed on the market late last year by the top two cropping farmers - Ron Grentree and Limthona Pty Ltd; a company formed by Rowena's Harris family. The 12,762 ha grain growing property was also home to a cattle breeding and fattening operation, running 2200 cows and 7000 young cattle. Heron Todd White reported fifth ranked Cubbie Group were also in the real estate market. Two properties owned by the Cubbie St. George Group were passed in at the July 20 Ray White Rural auctions including Aspen (410ha) at 5,500,000 dollar and Kananda (325ha) at 3,700,000 dollar.
