The Polytec RoboVib lab in Dexter, Michigan, available through Polytec's Engineering Services division, could revolutionize the automotive development cycle. Able to measure extremely high point density, without the accelerometers' intrinsic errors of adding mass, the new lab is the fastest, most accurate method for performing modal analysis and has the capabilities of determining structural parameters while improving NVH response and limiting weight. Polytec can perform these services quickly in its lab or at the customer's facility. Driven by the new PSV-500, the RoboVib system can take measurements previously thought not possible. With a coherent stabilized laser system the signal-to-noise ratio is drastically improved, insuring the utmost sensitivity and resolution in vibration measurements. This yields an improvement in sensitivity for low-level vibrations and higher modal assurance criteria, enabling more precise measurements than with any other technique.
