IN THE past, climate research may have seemed to have been an academic exercise conducted by ivory tower scientists with little or no application to primary industry. All that has changed in the past few years as governments and private enterprise bec ome more aware of atmospheric changes and their impact on farming activities. Climatologists have always said that climates continually change - but it has been only in the past 20 years that a wealth of information has become available, along with compu ter systems capable of processing the data, which can be used to project what current changes may mean in another 20 years.
