Construction of mathematical models of optimal allocation of file copies in distributed databases

An approach to the construction of mathematical models of optimal file allocation in distributed databases among the nodes of a computer network that do not require knowledge of the query processing scheme at the nodes is considered. Two mathematical models of the distribution of file copies in the case of arbitrary network topology are presented. An easily implemented algorithm that produces a solution close to the optimal is proposed.
