'Koyo': Ocean Pearl Boat Builders' pearl farm vessel

Clipper Pearls' farm off Quondong Point north of Broome is probably more exposed to nature than any other. So when they need a new farm vessel it has to resemble a sea going vessel much more closely than the usual sheltered waters mobile platform. Ocean Pearl Boat Builders of Broome were entrusted with the construction of the 12.35 metre 'Koyo' designed by naval architect Jim Wilshire. Not only is it unusually large and seaworthy for a farm vessel, it is also exceptionally fast: 30 knots lightship and 20 knots cruising.
