Maintaining and increasing the conservation value of its reserves is the focus of property management by the Hobart-based Australian Bush Heritage Fund. The heritage fund acquires land to protect examples of Australia's wildlife habitats and plant communities that it deems highly threatened and ecologically significant. It has acquired 13 properties totalling more than 62,000 hectares that it will manage for perpetuity. The reserves range in size from Currumbin Valley's 4ha to Carnarvon Station's 59,000ha (see map).
