The Woodlawn zinc-copper project's story is very much one of the past, present and future. Historically, the project's tome has varied from triumph to tumult. Discovered by St Joseph International Explorations Ltd and Phelps Dodge Exploration Corporation JV Jododex Australia Pty Ltd in 1969 during a roadside reconnaissance programme, Woodlawn was mined via open pit from 1978 to 1987 by both Jododex and Australian Mining and Smelting Ltd - a subsidiary of Conzinc Rio Tinto Australia Ltd - before it was acquired by Denehurst Ltd, which focused on underground development of the project for more than a decade.
