Re Geology for Engineers Course

摘要

Although I am mildly suspicious of people who write letters to newspapers or magazines, I felt I should present some personal impressions of the recent Geology for Engineers Course, as I have some responsibilities for matters geological as a member the AGS National Committee. The course took place between 14 and 25 January 2002 in Adelaide and was based on a series of classic field and laboratory teaching exercises that were developed by David Stapledon between 1978 and 1991 when he was at the University of South Australia. There were 18 students, all actively involved in the practice of geotechnics and typically with 5-15 years experience; 16 had graduated as engineers and 2 as geologists.
