THE search for Australia's first Legendairy Capital came to a head on September 15 with the announcement that the Victorian town of Stanhope in the Murray Dairy region had been awarded the title.The thrilling news created an electric wave of excitement in the town and soon nearly 100 people had gathered at the local sportsground for an impromptu celebration, plus photographs and interviews from regional media.One of the organisers of the Stanhope entry to the competition, dairy-farmer Andrew Hipwell, called it a 'fantastic day' for the town.
