N.S. biomass guidelines near completion: Draft endorses taking three-quarters of fines, in three-quarters of forests

Many observers of Nova Scotia's emerging bioenergy industry - advocates, skeptics, andfence-sitters alike-have been waiting to see the provincial ForestBiomass Harvest and Retention Guidelines, which will be mandatory on Crown licenses and recommended on private woodlands. The Department of Natural Resources missed its May 2009 target for approval and recommendation of the guide lines, buttheprocess was nearing completion.
