Russia’s leading private-sector producer Lukoil and New Stream, which owns the Antipinsky and Mari-El refineries, confirmed this week that they submitted bids by the 25 July deadline to participate in the privatisation of Bashneft. NNK, controlled by former Rosneft president Eduard Khudainatov, and little-known Tatneftegaz are also believed to have submitted bids, although this is unconfirmed. But there was confusion over whether or not Rosneft submitted a bid, with conflicting statements emerging from the Kremlin. A source close to Rosneft says it submitted a bid, although the firm itself declines to comment officially.
