The major news in the potash market is that fresh contracts for MOP to India have started to fall into place as predicted last week.The main buyer Indian Potash Ltd.(IPL),has secured 1.175 million tonnes already and is expected to book over 2.1 million in all.Other buyers will follow and the total with IPL is expected to be between 3.7-4.0 million. This is significantly above to the 3.3 million imported by India in the previous 12 months.This will provide suppliers with a good baseload especially in the second quarter when shipments to China are also running strongly.Both these markets are major importers of standard MOP,which has not been tight like granular MOP.
