Mike: We first met you and Charles at the Knoxville Bonsai Show a few years ago. This is where I first saw your Bonsai pottery. The glazes and designs blew everyone away. Without revealing any secrets, is it the clay you use or in the glaze that giveyour pots their distinct look? Michele: It is not the clay or the glazes that make a potter unique. It is the marriage of the clay and glaze and the artistic expression of the potter that makes a pot distinct. There are as many clay bodies or glazes as there are colors in the rainbow. Each clay body reacts with glazes in a unique way. If we choose only one clay body and only one glaze we can still have a myriad of result based on the firing technique and the method of glazing the piece.
