Bay Island Bonsai 10th Anniversary Exhibit

The members of Bay Island Bonsai held our 10th anniversary bonsai exhibit on the weekend of January 17-18, 2009. The show consisted of 75 separate displays comprising more than 100 individual trees, and included an auction, sales & vendor area, and the first demonstration that our teacher, Boon (Boonyarat Manakitivipart), has ever done for his own club. BIB has come a long way from when a handful of students founded the club in Boon's living room in the sum mer of 1998. We had only twelve members toset up our first show in January 2000. We still remember that moment when, after spending twelve non-stop hours loading and unloading trucks in the pouring rain, learning how to set up our backdrops and steam the wrinkles out of table coverings, we all of a sudden stood up and realized that we had a bonsai show.
