While there are no absolute rules, some ways of working with bonsai are more efficient than others. For example, it is often easier to wire bottom branches first and then work upward through the branches. We try to impart an appearance of age to our bonsai. This image is usually supported by lowering the branches. By lowering the bottom branches first, room is created above the lowered branches thus facilitating the wiring and lowering of the next higher circle of branches.
