A Canadian White Cedar: Exercise in Actual & Virtual Design

In 2006, I was invited to give a series of demonstrations and workshops at the 2006 Exhibition of the Society of Bonsai and Penjing of Lanaudiere (SBPL 2006) in Lanaudiere, Quebec, Canada. The event was held at Robert and Suzanne Smith's Gros-Bec Bonsai in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez, Quebec, a remarkably well equipped and stocked nursery. Approximately 500 individuals attended this conference located in this scenic part of Canada. The day after this well-attended bonsai conference, Vianney Leduc at the Ottawa Bonsai Society had scheduled me to give a private critique for his members. Immediately afterwards, Kazuo Tsukada, First Secretary, and Toshiyuki Yonehara, Cultural Coordinator, had made arrangements for me to give a public demonstration at the Embassy of Japan in Ottawa, Ontario.
