7June.The Pakistani govern ment has given domestic polyes ter staple fibre (PSF) industry a shot in the arm by announcing a reduction in import duties on raw materials monoethylene gly-col (MEG) and purified tereph-thalic acid (PTA).Presenting its budget for the 2005-06 financial year yesterday,the government said the import duty on MEG would be reduced to 0% from 10%.And while it said the import duty on PTA would remain at 15%,it added that it would refund the duty to importers of the product,effectively making the duty 0%.
