Reliance ponders NEA fibres

Reliance Industries is evaluating whether to build synthetic fiber facilities China or paraxylene (PX)-to-fibre assets in South Korea that would primarily serve the China market, ACN understands. The options under study emerged late last week after well-informed industry sources told ACN's sister service, Chemical News & Intelligence, in late November that Reliance has submitted a bid for Ulsan-located KP Chemical's assets, which comprise 700 000 tonne/year of PX, 1.5 tonne/year of PTA and 20 000tonne/year of PET resin (see p6).
