Methanol study submitted to government

DAHUA Group has submitted a pre-feasibility study on a 300000 tonne/year methanol project to the Chinese government,said a company source.The company planned to install a coal-gasification unit,which would use Shell's technology,to provide syngas feedstock for the proposed methanol unit in Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone,Liaoning,China,said the source.The planned coal-gasification unit would also feedan existing 300000 tonne/year ammonia unit.The source said this was part of the company's plans to change the feedstock for its ammonia unit from crude oil to coal.He added that the company planned to start up the methanol project at end-2006.
