Everyone is a beginner at first. When we saw our first bonsai, most of us were captivated by those "little trees". Almost any kind of bonsai within sight intrigued us. Once we began creating bonsai however, we quickly became more and more discriminating and the road to that "perfect" tree began. It doesn't take long for newcomers to realize that not all bonsai are created equal; the knowledge and expertise needed to create really artistic trees takes skill. Just how far our abilities will carry each one of us is different, depending on a variety of factors; but regardless of where we are on that path, as beginners or experienced artists, it is a wonderful journey.
