Dana Petroleum Makes Two More Oil Discoveries on the North Zeit Bay and East Beni Suef Tracts

The British company Dana Petroleum has reported two more oil discoveries on two of its onshore concessions in Egypt. On the North Zeit Bay tract in the Gulf of Suez region, in which Dana has a 100% interest, the Lorcan-lx well was taken down to a depth of 7,500 feet and penetrated good-quality oil-bearing sands. A well stem test yielded a flow of 4,714 b/d of crude. The flow rate was limited by the configuration of the casing and the need to evacuate the crude oil extracted by road tanker to prevent flaring. Dana is already in talks with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) with a view to installing an early production system at the Lorcan field.
