Hydrocarbon Export Earnings Rose by Over 8 Billion to 54 Billion in 2006

As a result of the rise in oil and gas prices and,to a lesser extent,of the increase in its hydrocarbon production in 2006,Algeria shattered its previous record for hydrocarbon export earnings last year.According to the Minister of Energy and Mines,Mr.Chakib Khelil,hydrocarbon exports soared to 54 billion in 2006 from 45.6-45.7 billion in 2005 (AOG,1 May,2006,and 1 March,2007).
