Arbed, Aceralia and Usinor - Shaping the steel future

Arbed, Aceralia and Usinor have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding expressing their intention to combine their industrial, commercial and human strengths into a new company, NewCo. Through this combination, Aceralia, Arbed and Usinor will form the world's largest steel company.The new group, which should be created in autumn 2001, will be headquartered in Luxembourg. Joseph Kinsch and Francis Mer will be co-Chairmen of NewCo, and Fernand Wagner will be Chief Executive Officer.
