GDF Suez Offers to Finance Phase 1 of a 200-MW Expansion of Power Generation Capacity

On the occasion of a visit to Lebanon of a delegation from GDF Suez and in order to help the government resolve its chronic power shortage problem, the French company suggested to the Lebanese President, Mr. Michel Soleiman, and the Prime Minister, Mr. Saad Hariri, that it expand the country's power generation capacity by 200 MW. The additional facilities, which would run on renewable energies, would be installed in four 50-MW phases, the first of which would be financed by GDF Suez.
