The SO_2 market was quiet much of the week, seeing more activity today than the previous four. SO_2 slipped to an intra-week low of 452.50 dollars today, before recovering slightly to close at 455 dollars /ton. Participants are usually slow to act this time of year, ahead of EPA's annual SO_2 auction. But traders say there has been less anticipation in the weeks ahead of the auction this year compared with previous years, likely because of relatively soft fundamentals and heavy regulatory uncertainty.
