A long-term decarbonisation goal would send the rightsignals to the energy sector and must be part of the climateagreement to emerge from the negotiations in Paris, IEAexecutive director Fatih Birol said.The latest draft of the text, released today, containstwo options for a long-term goal. The first is a specific 2050target to reduce carbon emissions by 40-95pc below 1990levels. The second pledges decarbonisation “over the courseof this century”.
