Algal colonization process in fishponds of different trophic status

The algal colonization process in the littoral zone of two fishponds of different trophic status was studied during spring and summer 2001. Differences were observed between both sites and seasons. Differences in colonization rate and cover degree between two fishponds were probably influenced by differences in water chemistry, especially nutrient concentration. On the other hand, differences between spring and summer experiments at each locality were probably caused by seasonal changes of other environmental variables, especially temperature and light conditions in the water column.
