Pharmaceutical market is traditionally in the top five capital intensive markets of the world and maintains stable growth trend, which is not directly related to the global economic situation. Drug demand in Ukraine also remains high in spite of economic conditions in the country. Pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine comprises 180 enterprises, in particular, 22 large companies (which account for 75 percent of production by the sector) and 135 small and medium enterprise (25 percent of the output), as well as 23 pharmaceutical factories and 1,300 drug stores that have licenses for medicine manufacturing. Retail trade involves about 12,240 drug stores and booths, as well as 6,200 drug stalls.
