Baltic scrap weakens in fresh deal to Turkey

Sentiment in Turkish import scrap market has started to weaken. As a result, aBaltic cargo was recently sold at discount.While early this week Turkish steel producers were ready to pay $320?321/t CFR forBaltic HMS 1&2 (80:20), later on they have started to push for lower levels, claimingthat the steel sales remain insufficient. As a result, Iskenderun-based steel producermanaged to book HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap from Saint Petersburg at $315/t CFR,the cargo will be shipped by May 5, Metal Expert learnt. The full details of thetransactions were not disclosed by the time of publication. Therefore, Baltic scraptags lost $5/t compared to the deal, agreed on in mid-March.
