摘要

Many people call the Tevis the most difficult 100-mile horse race in the world. Started in 1955 by Wendell Robie, the ride emerged from a challenge in Wesf-Horseman. The original challenger never showed up, but the dea to race horses over 100 miles ofrough, mountainous terrain in less than 24 hours took hold of Wendell's imagination. Trails were marked, often following historic mining trails from the early California gold rush. Segments of the course were actually used by the Piute and Washoe Indians as well as early pioneers and gold and silver miners. Riders come from all over the world to test their horses and personal endurance and try for the coveted belt buckle that's awarded to all finishers.
