The editor and the authors are well known in the field of hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery and have made contributions to the previous editions of the series. The previous editions have been immensely popular especially for surgical trainees in preparation for the exam. The short concise nature of the chapters with up to date evidence-based references made it an essential reading for trainees in preparation for their exam. Compared with the previous edition, new chapters on liver function and failure, non-colorectal hepatic metastasis and non-adenocarcinoma of the pancreas have been included. With indications for surgery evolving for non-colorectal hepatic metastasis and non-adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, these chapters provide up to date information on the current state of literature.
