摘要

Ascorbic acid is an important constituent of plant species, particularly growing in the desert as it determines ecological adaptation and nutrition profile of such species. Present study deals with ascorbic acid content in root, shoot and flowers of Capparis decidua and Lasiurus sindicus. The total amount of endogenous ascorbic acid is much higher in C. decidua (100.90 mg/100 g f. w.) than L. sindicus (70.67 mg/100 g f. w.). This trend was also reflected for ascorbic acid content in root, shoot and flower. These plant species can serve as good food and fodder for the livestock of desert areas in drought and famine conditions.
