摘要

Proteomics is the investigation of biological processes by systemic analysis of a large number of expressed proteins for specific properties such as their identity, quantity and molecular interactions. It is a large-scale study of proteins, particularly their structures and functions. Understanding the regulation of biological systems was very complex. But with the advent of new genomic technologies like microarray and proteomics, complexity in the analysis of biological systems at genetic, molecular and biochemical level has been reduced to a great extent. The analysis of proteins is the most direct approach to define the gene function. Therefore, efficient approaches for identifying proteins, for determining profiles of protein expression in different tissues and under different conditions, for identifying post-translational modifications of proteins in response to different stimuli and for characterizing protein interactions are critical for understanding biological processes in the post-genome era.
