More important than just telling Congress the news about Liberia and Myanmar though, is what you are going to tell them. How can you persuade them that metrication is important? In his essay "Metric Isolation and 'Our System'" the Metric Maven (http://themetricmaven.com/) lists 19 Congressional enquiries into metrication: 1879, 1896, 1897, 1898, 1901, 1902, 1906, 1921, 1926, 1937, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1963, 1965, 1975, and 1996; and after all that, the US government could not get a successful metrication programme together.
