Guidelines to manage a Scientific Journal: The new EJCI editorial board

Dear readers, manuscript submitters, editors and reviewers of the European Journal of Clinical Investigation (EJCI), In the outlook of the 50th year that EJCI is in publication since 1970, it is on behalf of the European Society of Clinical Investigation (ESCI) Council that Dr Jakub Regieli, President of the Journal Foundation of ESCI, is announcing with great enthusiasm that Prof. Hendrik Nathoe and Prof. Fabrizio Montecucco will serve, respectively, as new Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of EJCI, starting January 2020 for a period of five years. In this editorial, we want to highlight the changes and future directions of EJCI, aiming at further improvement of the Journal. However, first we want to express our countless gratitude to the current editorial board with Editor-in-Chief Prof. John Ioannidis, who with his rigorous and methodological work, was able to establish the reputation and international recognition of EJCI. Although we are aware that replacing Prof. Ioannidis will be a great challenge, we are certainly aiming at further improvement of his great work for EJCI in the last 10 years.
