Determinants and outcome of cardiogenic shock in patients with Takotsubo syndrome

I read with much interest the paper by Stiermaier et al, published in the journal ahead of print on 16 October 2015, about the high incidence of cardiogenic shock (CS) in 178 patients with Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), its association with a high rate of short-term and long-term mortality, and the low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) at clinical presentation, as its deterministic underpinning.
