Petrobras sees promise for Brazil’s gas reserves

Rio de Janeiro—Petrobras is optimistic about Brazil’s onshore gas reserves and plans to boost spending on developing them in its 2014-2018 business plan, a company executive said Wednesday. Petrobras won 49 of 72 onshore blocks auctioned in Brazil’s November 28 bid round. Of those, 22 blocks could hold unconventional reserves, Otaviano Pessoa Neto, the company’s general manager of equatorial margin interpretation and evaluation, said. The investment program come as part of PRON-GAS, the onshore gas program Petrobras unveiled earlier this year, Pessoa Neto said.
