Hong Kong Brightoil’s bunker volumes fall

Singapore—Hong Kong-listed Brightoil Petroleum announced its global bunker sales volume in the six months ended December 31, 2012 were approximately 2.8 million mt, a decrease of 37% from the same period a year ago. The company attributed the drop in volume to “ship owners’ attempts to reduce bunker consumption to control costs” and its own attempts to manage credit risk better by selecting “customers more cautiously, which partly contributed to the significant drop in bunker sales volume in Singapore and China.”
